Anthropic has signed a 20-year data center lease with Canada's EverWind Fuels to support the operation of the Claude artificial intelligence model. This agreement marks Anthropic's first data center deal in Canada, covering the initial 95 megawatt facility at the Point Tupper site in Nova Scotia. The lease amount has not been disclosed. The first phase of the project is planned to be operational by the end of 2027, with an additional 325 megawatts planned for expansion in 2028, bringing the total planned capacity of the entire site to 420 megawatts, with future expansions dependent on commercial, technical, and regulatory conditions. EverWind announced that the site and related wind power projects are expected to attract over CAD 10 billion in private investment, with over CAD 8 billion allocated for the site investment and approximately CAD 2 billion for the wind power projects.
