On September 11, a block reorganization occurred on the Bitcoin (BTC) network for block 966500. The block mined by AntPool remained as the main chain, linking to subsequent blocks. According to the block explorer mempool.space, AntPool generated a block consisting of 4,359 transactions and a reward of 3.14112795 BTC at 8:30:30 PM (KST) on September 11. SpiderPool also created a valid block at the same height; however, as the next block was added on top of the AntPool block, the AntPool chain surpassed in cumulative work. The SpiderPool block was treated as a stale block. This reorganization marks the third occurrence within a month, with Bitcoin block 963853 mined by SpiderPool on August 24. Block reorganizations occur when multiple miners generate blocks at the same height simultaneously, resulting in two valid chains existing on the network. Bitcoin exchanges or payment services determine transaction confirmations after multiple blocks have been added, and the impact of this reorganization on exchange deposits and withdrawals or payment services has not been confirmed.
