Circle Releases Guide on Integrating ERC-20 Tokens with CCTP Cross-Chain

By: www.circle.com|10/30/2026 15:13:54

Circle has released a developer guide detailing how to enable cross-chain transfers of ERC-20 tokens other than USDC through the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP). Token issuers can deploy new native cross-chain tokens via CCTP or configure existing ERC-20 tokens for custom CCTP connections, reusing Circle's messaging and proof infrastructure and adopting a burn-mint model. Issuers can set owners, operators, pause permissions, rate limits, and single transaction caps, with Circle unable to take control. CCTP for non-USDC went live in September 2026, supporting EVM chains such as Ethereum, Avalanche, OP Mainnet, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon PoS, and Arc, but not supporting non-EVM chains like Solana.
