CLARITY Bill Goes to the U.S. Senate

The CLARITY Act, after being approved by the House of Representatives and Senate committees, will go to the floor of the U.S. Senate for a vote on September 15, 2026. Senators must decide whether to end the review and proceed to the final vote; this process requires 60 votes in favor, and Republicans must garner support from Democrats and independent representatives. To secure these votes, new amendments with over 115 proposed provisions from Democrats regarding fraud prevention and the regulation of DeFi platforms have been introduced. If passed, this law will establish the most comprehensive legal framework with three main pillars: 1. Ending the battle between regulatory agencies and defining associated assets; 2. Distinguishing real DeFi from fake projects and protecting wallets; 3. A comprehensive system for cryptocurrency exchanges that will be required to comply with banking secrecy laws, anti-money laundering measures, customer identification, and user asset segregation laws.
