Odaily News Michael Pfister of Commerzbank Research said the dollar could rise in the short term, but gains are likely to be limited. The dollars recent weakness may be a bit excessive at the moment, allowing for a small rebound. However, the prospect of a rate cut by the Fed should curb any rebound in the dollar. In addition, Trumps calls for rate cuts and attacks on the Feds independence will also curb the recovery. Commerzbank expects the Fed to cut rates in September. Therefore, he believes that the current recovery phase of the dollar is unlikely to last too long. (Jinshi)
