David Schwartz believes XRP could surpass Bitcoin
David Schwartz, former CTO of Ripple, suggests that XRP could surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization if it grows at a faster rate. Currently, Bitcoin's market capitalization is approximately 18 times greater than that of XRP. During a conversation on X Spaces, Schwartz stated that this could happen without Bitcoin decreasing, in a larger cryptocurrency market where both assets increase in value simultaneously. Schwartz highlighted the features of the XRP Ledger, which allow for quick processing of payments and asset transfers, potentially favoring the adoption of XRP. In the past, XRP temporarily surpassed Ethereum, taking the second spot by market capitalization. At the time of the report, Bitcoin was trading near $77,165 with a market capitalization of approximately $1,540 billion, while XRP was around $1.35 and had a market capitalization close to $85 billion. To match Bitcoin's current market capitalization, XRP would need to trade near $24.50, assuming Bitcoin's valuation remains stable. Schwartz did not set a timeline for this to occur, indicating that it is a possibility conditioned on the growth of XRP and market expansion.
