Felca Law Seeks to Regulate Digital Content for Minors
The discussion about responsibility for content accessed by children and adolescents in Brazil gains new momentum with the representation filed with the Public Ministry for the application of Law No. 15,211/2025, the 'Felca Law'. The proposal aims to regulate the availability of content such as the highly anticipated game Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), classified as adult content, for those under 18 years old. The initiative requires prominent warnings, age restrictions, and age verification mechanisms on platforms. The focus is to prevent broadcasts, videos, and reproductions of GTA 6 from being accessible to this audience. The representation mentions popular channels like Alanzoka and BRKsEDU, without prior accusation, solely for preventive guidance. Furthermore, the measure extends to other channels that disseminate content inappropriate for the youth audience. The goal is not to censor creators or prohibit adults from watching, but to ensure that platforms implement age restrictions. The Felca Law reflects an attempt to extend the protection of children and adolescents to the online environment, but raises debates about parental responsibility versus state intervention.
