Japan Requests Anthropic and OpenAI to Open AI Model Permissions
The Japanese government has requested Anthropic and OpenAI to provide more permissions to use advanced models capable of identifying cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and is encouraging critical infrastructure operators to adopt these models. The Japanese government plans to include content related to strengthening cooperation with U.S. AI developers in a package of cybersecurity measures to be announced next week. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has urged cabinet members to promote related work and collaborate with foreign government agencies to identify cyber attackers and address system vulnerabilities. Currently, Japan is working to curb data breach incidents. On October 13, Japan's cybersecurity chief Toshiharu Furukawa met with Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark, and both parties confirmed that Anthropic will collaborate with Japan's AI security research institutions to analyze methods of launching attacks using AI.
