Jazzi Cooper Claims XRP as Collateral is a Killer Use Case
Jazzi Cooper, former Head of Product at RippleX, stated that using XRP as collateral for institutional credit is a "killer use case" for the token. This capability is enabled by the XLS-65 and XLS-66 lending protocols, now operational on the XRP Ledger. The lending protocol allows market makers and institutional traders to use XRP as collateral to secure credit lines without liquidating their positions. It introduces fixed-term, fixed-rate lending through Single Asset Vaults, allowing institutions to treat XRP as productive working capital while retaining control over underwriting and compliance decisions off-chain. Commentator Bill Morgan noted that this use case became viable only after the SEC lawsuit against Ripple concluded and the lending protocol launched. Ripple Prime accepts XRP as collateral alongside Bitcoin and other assets. A recent SEC filing from Charles Schwab indicates that XRP ETFs are increasingly being used as repo collateral. Development on the XRPL continues, with Lending Protocol v1.1 set to launch with XRPL version 3.4.0 next week. Institutional partners have already originated nearly $1.8 billion in loans on XRPL. As XRP's market cap approaches 2.42 billion, it is evolving from a bridge asset to a core institutional collateral instrument. Currently, XRP trades near 1.37, with analysts suggesting that reclaiming the 1.55 resistance level is crucial to avoid a deeper retracement.
