New Generation of Smart National Cards with Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence to Enter the Market by Spring 2027
The National Organization for Civil Registration has announced the design of a new generation of smart national cards using blockchain and artificial intelligence. These cards will enhance the security of citizens' information by eliminating physical chips and utilizing online identity verification infrastructure. Mohammad Jamalu, the head of the Civil Registration Organization, stated that these cards will be distributed by spring 2027. In this plan, citizens will not need to provide physical copies of identity documents to receive services from executive and banking institutions. Artificial intelligence and blockchain will be employed as key technologies in these cards. The physical chip will be removed and replaced with an encrypted QR code. Authentication will be performed using a combination of artificial intelligence and one-time passwords (OTP). Jamalu emphasized that while it is impossible to eliminate the possibility of forgery completely, the new security features can enhance the protection of citizens' information. The main goal of this plan is to eliminate the need to provide copies of identity documents in administrative and banking processes. According to the Civil Registration Organization, the replacement of cards will initially prioritize individuals whose national card validity has expired. It is expected that the issuance and delivery of new cards will be completed in less than 20 working days.
