Oil Surge and Bitcoin Decline in Global Markets
In the past 24 hours, the surge in oil prices and concerns about persistent inflation have made global markets cautious. Tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran have increased the risk of disruptions in energy supply. The yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds approached 5%, putting pressure on Wall Street; the Dow Jones fell by 1.2% and the S&P 500 index decreased by about 0.5%. Brent crude oil rose by 3.1% to $116.72, with a weekly increase of 6.2%. Concerns over attacks and disruptions to oil infrastructure outweighed the increase in oil flow from the Strait of Hormuz. The global gold price decreased by 0.6% to $3,998.35, with a weekly decline of about 4%. In the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin traded down 1.32% at $80,693. Its market value was approximately $1.62 trillion, with a 24-hour trading volume close to $21.84 billion. Developments in the Middle East, oil prices, Federal Reserve decisions, and the release of the U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditures index are significant factors for the markets.
