Polymarket's Unclear Token Issuance Plan Sparks Community Disappointment
Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan failed to clarify the token issuance plan at the Token2049 conference in Singapore, leading to disappointment within the community. Coplan expressed optimism about the potential of on-chain financial assets but did not meet market expectations, resulting in dissatisfaction among some users. As speculation in the crypto market cools, more projects are reassessing their token models. A report from CoinGecko indicates that between January 2025 and February 2026, less than 10% of the tokens launched on mainstream crypto exchanges saw price increases. The cross-chain protocol Across is gradually halting its token, allowing holders to exchange it for equity. Centrifuge CEO Bhaji Illuminati pointed out that tokens could become an obstacle for companies in attracting institutional clients and financing.
