Quantum-Resistant zkVM 'Lattice Jolt' Unveiled, Proof Speed Increased by 2-3 Times

Prefer us on GoogleAndreessen Horowitz Crypto has unveiled 'Lattice Jolt', an open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM) that employs quantum-resistant cryptography. It has increased the processing speed of the prover and verifier by approximately 2-3 times and reduced the proof size to below 100KB. Lattice Jolt replaces the existing elliptic curve-based polynomial commitment method 'Dori' with 'Akita', which is based on the modular SIS assumption. Akita is a lattice-based polynomial commitment method that supports transparent setup and quantum-resistant security. The zkVM is a technology that proves a specific program has been executed in a predetermined manner, allowing developers to verify the validity of the execution results. According to performance metrics, the Lattice Jolt CPU version processes over 2 million RISC-V cycles per second, and with Apple Metal-based GPU acceleration, it exceeds 10 million cycles per second. The memory usage of the prover has decreased from approximately 300 bytes per cycle to 200 bytes. Quantum-resistant cryptography is a technology designed to guard against attacks from quantum computers, and Lattice Jolt is designed with a target of 128-bit level quantum-resistant security. Andreessen Horowitz Crypto plans to add zero-knowledge features in the future and also develop a hash-based Jolt version.
