SBI Holdings Partners with Cross River's Parent Company to Establish Joint Venture in Japan
SBI Holdings has signed a memorandum of understanding with CRB Group, the parent company of the American fintech company Cross River Bank, to establish a joint venture in Japan upon obtaining regulatory approvals from both Japan and the United States. The joint venture will focus on three types of businesses: the development of RWA tokenization products based on real-world assets such as loan receivables, cross-border payment services, and commercial payment infrastructure supported by AI agents. SBI Holdings will also make a strategic investment in CRB Group, with specific investment amounts and shareholding ratios undisclosed. Both parties plan to collaborate in multiple directions, including integrating JPYSC, Japan's first trust-type yen stablecoin jointly developed by SBI and Startale Group, into the Cross River platform for settlement of institutional, cross-border, and tokenized asset transactions, and introducing Cross River's fintech solutions to the Japanese and Asia-Pacific markets through SBI's distribution network.
