Solana Foundation Joins Rust Foundation as Platinum Member

The Solana Foundation has joined the Rust Foundation as a platinum member. The annual membership fee is $325,000 (approximately 435.83 million KRW). The Rust Foundation registered the Solana Foundation as a platinum member in its September membership list, and NVIDIA also joined as a platinum member in the same month. Platinum members receive a dedicated seat on the Rust Foundation's board and opportunities to collaborate on major foundation projects. The Solana Foundation's membership does not represent a new entry into the Rust ecosystem, as it is already connected to the Rust-based development ecosystem. Rust is used as the official programming language for Solana's on-chain program development, and developers utilize the 'solana-program' crate and an execution environment tailored to the Solana runtime. Solana programs use the 'entrypoint!' macro instead of the 'main' function, and the use of certain standard libraries and packages is restricted. Discussions on security and compilers at the Rust Foundation are related to the Solana developer ecosystem. However, there has been no announcement that this membership will lead to specific changes in technical standards or protocols. The Solana Foundation will also participate in RustConf 2026, where it will be listed as a diamond sponsor. The event will discuss security and governance within the Rust ecosystem.
