Solana's Fire Dancer Decides to Burn 1 SOL for Each Bug Report
Solana's validator software, Fire Dancer, has decided to burn 1 SOL for each bug report to prevent indiscriminate security vulnerability reports using AI. This decision comes as AI can quickly identify vulnerabilities, while the personnel and costs required to verify actual security threats have increased. According to Fire Dancer's official bug bounty terms, reporters must permanently burn 1 SOL to receive a reward, and SOL from duplicate or invalid reports will not be returned. This measure reflects the results of a large-scale security audit competition held this year, where 162 participants submitted 809 vulnerability reports, but only 127 of those were valid discoveries. Jump Crypto analyzed that almost all reports were discovered through AI agents. With an average of 26 reports filed daily, the backlog of reports awaiting review has piled up to 299. Fire Dancer will pay double the existing rewards for acknowledged vulnerability reports until November 20, and triple for vulnerabilities related to Alpen Glow.
