Tencent Restructures AI Gaming Team, Integrating ARC Lab and Game AI Teams
Tencent IEG is restructuring its AI gaming team, focusing on video world models and AI-native games. The new organization will integrate ARC Lab and the existing game AI team, while continuing to hire on a large scale. ARC Lab primarily conducts cutting-edge research, focusing on world models, game agents, and generative AI, while the game AI team is responsible for transforming capabilities like large models and agents into game development tools and infrastructure. This adjustment aims to combine research models with practical applications, and the new department will cover areas such as audio and video foundational models, data, video world models, agents, and products. The team currently consists of about 100 people, with plans to expand to 400 to 500 in the future, one of the goals being to explore the direct generation of interactive game worlds using video models.
