The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand has publicly sought opinions on regulatory principles for stablecoins, with a deadline around September 25. The principles propose that stablecoin deposits and withdrawals conducted through regulated digital asset operators must originate from and be directed to accounts/wallets belonging to the customer, prohibiting deposits or withdrawals from/to third-party wallets. A daily limit is proposed, with each person allowed to transact no more than 5 million Thai Baht (approximately $150,000) per operator, accompanied by requirements such as the Travel Rule to mitigate risks of money laundering and cross-border fund evasion. These principles are still in the consultation phase, and the final rules are yet to be determined.
