The US Imposes Ban on Imports of Canadian Alcohol, Motorcycles, and Dairy Products
The United States has announced a ban on the import of alcoholic beverages, motorcycles, and dairy products from Canada, escalating trade tensions. The ban will take effect on September 29 and is a response to Canada’s mirror tariffs on US goods worth $20 billion, introduced on September 8. The ban includes beer, wine, whiskey, bourbon, rum, vodka, vermouth, tequila, mezcal, and brandy, as well as whey protein and non-alcoholic beer. An additional 50% tariff has been imposed on Canadian cheese, paper, aluminum, lumber, furniture, and lighting equipment. Donald Trump has ordered the exclusion of Canadian products from federal procurement, and tariffs on Canadian cars will increase from 25% to 50% starting January 1. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has expressed readiness for economic reorientation. Analysts warn of risks to the USMCA agreement.

Apple Foldable Event Nears | WEEX TradFi Daily(September 9, 2026)
Global markets are focused on Apple’s fall product event, firmer energy prices, and the renewed valuation pressure on risk assets. Apple shares retreated ahead of the launch as investors weighed foldable-device pricing, on-device AI monetization, and potential sell-the-news volatility. Energy equities benefited from supply-risk repricing, which also reinforced sticky-inflation concerns and a higher-for-longer rates narrative. In crypto, bitcoin eased toward the mid-$78,000 range; although spot ETF inflows remain supportive, positioning has turned more defensive in the face of rising hike expectations. After the close, AeroVironment earnings and Apple’s product details could shape the next move across tech and thematic trades.
