Trezor Warns Dogecoin Users About Safe 5 Security Risk
Trezor has warned users about potential external interference with some Safe 5 devices purchased through CryptoBilis. The warning specifically targets those who acquired devices from this vendor after March 2026. Mishaboar from the Dogecoin community suggested that users who bought Trezor from CryptoBilis should transfer their assets to a new wallet and create a new recovery phrase. The warning emphasized that recovery phrases for wallets at risk should not be reused. Mishaboar noted that hardware wallets do not store crypto assets; these assets exist on the blockchain, and access to funds could be granted if private keys fall into the hands of third parties. Trezor stated that a physical examination of the reported device has not yet been conducted, but the security team is taking the situation seriously and prefers to inform customers. The company also added that it has not received any verified reports of fund loss from CryptoBilis customers. Users who have not yet set up their devices were reminded not to use old backups or recovery phrases from existing wallets and not to share this information.
