Trezor Warns of Hardware Implant Risk in CryptoBilis Sold Safe 5
Trezor has stated that its security team received reports alleging that a Trezor Safe 5 purchased from the Southeast Asian official distributor CryptoBilis had a hardware Trojan implanted inside. The device was acquired in August 2026 through Tokopedia, and the report claims that there is an additional circuit board with a cellular module and antenna between the motherboard and the screen, which could read the screen display and transmit data via mobile networks when the device is powered on. Trezor has not yet received the physical device for laboratory verification, but based on customer descriptions and video communications, it considers the report credible and has issued a warning. Currently, no users have reported losses. Trezor advises users who purchased devices through CryptoBilis since March 2026 to promptly transfer their assets to a wallet using a new mnemonic phrase and to avoid entering existing mnemonic phrases on suspicious devices. Affected users can contact the official support to request a replacement device or a voucher. Trezor has removed CryptoBilis from its official distributor list as of October 9.
