Uber and Airbnb Mentioned as Examples of Instant Payments in Ripple Document
In Ripple's confidential slide materials, Uber and Airbnb were mentioned as examples of instant payments to workers. The materials explain the connection between the global platform's cross-border micropayments and Ripple's payment infrastructure. Crypto researcher SMQKE shared this information on the 5th, and CoinGape reported that there is a demand for micropayments and multi-national payments targeting overseas workers and suppliers. However, CoinGape stated that it does not consider the materials as a contract. Ripple emphasizes the demand for bulk payments from corporate clients, presenting cases such as Uber drivers and Airbnb hosts. Ripple operates a network that can facilitate payments to employees, contractors, partners, and suppliers in over 60 markets, stating that it can handle Ripple USD (RLUSD), USD Coin (USDC), Tether (USDT), and fiat currencies together. Instant payments allow workers or contractors to receive compensation on a shorter cycle without waiting until the settlement date. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi mentioned in a Bloomberg interview in June 2025 that they are considering the use of stablecoins. Airbnb has presented various payment methods, but the adoption of stablecoins has not been confirmed. This matter is related to Ripple's recent trend of expanding its payment and tokenization infrastructure.
