XRPL Commons Warns XRP Community Against Fake Accounts

A new scam targeting users in the XRP Ledger ecosystem has been detected. XRPL Commons issued a security warning to the XRP community due to the increasing malicious impersonation attempts, urging users to be cautious of accounts claiming to connect with them. XRPL Commons explained that some individuals have been impersonating the organization to send direct messages to users. It specifically highlighted that messages claiming to be from the team and requesting money, bank information, private keys, or seed phrases carry a high risk. The organization emphasized that it does not send direct messages as an initial contact or make financial requests. Users receiving suspicious messages were advised not to engage with the sender, and to block and report the relevant account. Community members were asked to carefully verify every message they receive. It was noted that scammers tend to impersonate trustworthy organizations to legitimize their requests. XRPL Commons is known as an initiative focused on education and community efforts within the XRP Ledger ecosystem. The warning comes at a time when social engineering attempts targeting cryptocurrency users have been gaining momentum.
