Anthropic Buys Back and Resells FTX-Related Equity for Approximately $627 Million
Anthropic repurchased approximately 4.4539 million shares of Series B redeemable convertible preferred stock from the U.S. government at about $140.97 per share in October 2025, and resold them to nine qualified investors at the same price, totaling approximately $627 million. These shares were previously seized in legal proceedings, and Anthropic did not receive any net proceeds from this transaction. The shares were originally held by Caroline Ellison and Nishad Singh, and the proceeds from the sale have been transferred to the FTX bankruptcy estate for the benefit of creditors. If valued at Anthropic's estimated valuation of $1.5 trillion, these shares would be worth approximately $3.94 billion.
