Bitcoin has 43 percent volatility, less than Oracle and Coinbase
The realized volatility of Bitcoin over the past year is 43 percent, meaning its price fluctuated less than that of Oracle, Coinbase, Honeywell, and SanDisk. This is according to research by asset manager Grayscale. The measurement looks at price fluctuations and not at profit or loss. Bitcoin moves less strongly than 19 percent of the individual stocks in the S&P 500. The 43 percent volatility is lower than the ten-year average of 64 percent and the five-year average of 81 percent. Grayscale points to a larger market, more professional participants, and better-regulated trading opportunities as reasons for this decline. The data was collected up to October 14, 2026. It is important to note that volatility does not indicate that Bitcoin rose or fell by 43 percent during that period, but describes the extent of fluctuations around the average return.
