Changpeng Zhao Predicts Bitcoin Could Surpass Gold as a Reserve Asset

By: www.tokenpost.kr|2026/09/07 15:38:00

Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, stated that Bitcoin (BTC) could become the most preferred reserve asset, surpassing gold in the long term. At the 'Bitcoin Asia 2026' event, Zhao mentioned that if countries adopt Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset, its status could outshine that of gold. Currently, the market capitalization of gold stands at $15.899 trillion, making it the most preferred asset globally, while Bitcoin's market cap is only $1.6 trillion, roughly one-tenth of gold's. Zhao explained that gold's dominance stems from institutional custody systems and reserve asset frameworks, and he viewed the trend of some gold investors shifting funds to Bitcoin as a signal of diversification. However, he added that transitioning to Bitcoin would take time, given that a significant amount of assets is already invested in gold reserves. Zhao projected that Bitcoin could reach $1 million, emphasizing that governments should establish cryptocurrency regulations and allocate a portion of their reserve assets to Bitcoin. Bitcoin's price is currently trading at $79,045, and future policy changes by various countries are expected to impact Bitcoin's status.
