Flipkart Minutes Surpasses 1,000 Logistics Hubs in India
Walmart-owned Flipkart's instant delivery service, Flipkart Minutes, has grown to handle around 1 million orders per day. The competition in India's quick commerce sector is expanding beyond grocery delivery to include electronics, beauty products, and household items delivered within minutes.
TechCrunch reported that Flipkart Minutes processes between 1.1 million and 1.2 million orders daily, according to anonymous sources. Estimates from Datum Intelligence suggest that the daily order volume will be between 800,000 and 850,000 by the fourth quarter of the 2026 fiscal year, while other market reports indicate figures of 900,000 to 1 million or more.
Flipkart has officially confirmed the expansion of its logistics hubs. In a statement on June 24, it announced that Minutes has surpassed 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers since its launch in August 2024, expanding to over 130 cities and more than 8,000 pin codes. The number of orders has increased fivefold compared to the previous year.
Looking at the flow of numbers, the growth rate is rapid. TechCrunch noted that the daily order volume for Flipkart Minutes has increased from about 390,000 to 400,000 in November 2025 to the low 1 million range recently. However, the company's announcements and market estimates differ in their aggregation criteria and reference points, making direct comparisons challenging.
Currently, Flipkart Minutes operates between 1,020 and 1,050 micro-fulfillment centers, adding about 100 each month with a goal of reaching 1,500 by the end of 2026, according to TechCrunch. This indicates that expansion continues even after officially surpassing the 1,000 mark.
Micro-fulfillment centers are small logistics hubs located close to customers' residences. Quick commerce companies stock groceries, household items, and some electronics at these hubs to ensure rapid delivery after an order is placed. A dense network of hubs in cities and inventory turnover rates are crucial for service quality.
There is still a gap with the leaders in the market. TechCrunch reported that Blinkit has a daily order volume of 3.4 million to 3.6 million, Zepto has 2.4 million to 2.6 million, and Swiggy Instamart has about 1.4 million. NewsBytes cited market data from August, indicating that Flipkart Minutes handles between 900,000 and 1 million orders, while Amazon Now processes 600,000 to 700,000.
Apparel Resources reported in August that the six major quick commerce platforms in India have a combined daily order volume of about 9.5 million. Based on this estimate, Flipkart Minutes is not yet a leading player, but it can be seen as a significant achievement for an established e-commerce giant to secure a meaningful order volume in a short time.
Flipkart's pursuit is gaining momentum by transitioning its existing e-commerce customer base to instant delivery. TechCrunch reported that Flipkart Minutes is expanding its product range to include fruits, vegetables, groceries, dairy, meat, as well as electronics, beauty, wellness, and household items. Flipkart stated in its official announcement that Generation Z is the fastest-growing customer segment, accounting for over 40% of its total customer base.
Satish Meena, a consultant at Datum Intelligence, told TechCrunch, "Opening 1,000 dark stores and processing 1 million orders a day makes them a serious player." This suggests that Flipkart Minutes has entered a scale that cannot be ignored in the competitive landscape, rather than immediately catching up to the leaders.
Amazon ($AMZN) is also expanding in the same market. On June 17, Amazon announced that it would introduce over 100 Urban Fulfillment Centers for Amazon Now and expand to over 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers across 100 cities. This trend shows that existing e-commerce players are developing separate infrastructure for rapid delivery.
As of August, Swiggy reported that Instamart has over 14 million monthly active customers, operates in more than 130 cities, and has over 1,200 dark stores. Additionally, it explained that over 45% of its dark store network contributes to positive margins. Thus, not only order volume but also profitability per hub has emerged as another indicator of competition.
India's quick commerce has grown by emphasizing rapid delivery, but speed marketing is also affected by regulations. Reuters reported in January that the Indian government ordered Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy to halt their '10-minute delivery' promotions, and Swiggy adjusted its related messaging. While the number of orders and centers is rapidly increasing, marketing expressions and actual operational metrics should be viewed separately.
Due to the market structure, quick commerce has a high initial investment burden. Urban logistics hubs, inventory management, delivery personnel, and demand forecasting within apps must align simultaneously. Flipkart and Amazon, with their existing customer and seller networks, are seen as having an advantage in mitigating some weaknesses of late entrants.
However, the number of cities, centers, and orders for each company may vary based on aggregation criteria. Flipkart has presented the expansion of centers and reach as official metrics, while market reports have compared competitive dynamics based on daily order volumes. The next key indicator for India's quick commerce will be Flipkart Minutes' goal of 1,500 hubs by the end of 2026 and the changes in order volume gaps with the top three players.
