By: delo.ua|2026/09/08 13:12:00

The laying of the top layer of cement concrete pavement has begun on the Northern Bypass of Zhytomyr as part of the reconstruction of a 22-kilometer section of the M-06 Kyiv --- Chop highway, which will be expanded from two to four lanes. Work is being carried out on the third phase of construction, with plans to lay about 300 linear meters of road surface daily. At the same time, old structures are being dismantled, and new base layers are being laid. The project includes a comprehensive reconstruction of the road, updating the road surface and artificial structures, reconstructing the left lane, as well as relocating or updating communication networks, gas, and electricity supply. Upon completion of the work, the M-06 section will be expanded, with provisions for sound insulation, drainage systems, sidewalks, and bus stops. The Northern Bypass of Zhytomyr is part of the international M-06 highway and remains the narrowest section of this highway. Work resumed in May 2026 after a pause since 2020. The completion of the project will allow the main transit flow to be redirected outside Zhytomyr, reducing the load on urban roads.
