642.4 MW of Gas Generation Connected in Ukraine
As of early September, Ukraine has connected 642.4 MW of distributed gas generation to the grid, of which 587 MW is allocated to regions and 55 MW to state companies. Out of the connected capacities, 491 MW have already been put into operation, with the highest number installed in Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, as well as in Kyiv itself. The total funding for the installation of cogeneration plants amounts to 1.4 billion UAH, of which 1.2 billion UAH is allocated from a new budget program. The frontline regions, including Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, received the largest share of state funds. Currently, 1.8 GW of distributed gas generation is operational in Ukraine, and the government plans to introduce an additional 800 MW of capacity by the end of 2026, of which 200 MW should be provided by state companies. Distributed generation allows for electricity production closer to consumers.
