Google Wallet Develops Overseas QR Payment Feature, Supporting Alipay+ in Singapore
According to Android Authority, a development setting for Overseas QR payments was discovered in Google Wallet version 26.42.1003171897. The "Learn More" link for this setting points to the Google Wallet support page, where the feature is referred to as Traveler QR. Google explains on the support page that relevant options will automatically appear when the phone detects that the user is in a covered area. Currently, the only explicitly mentioned destination is Singapore, which supports the Alipay+ partner network. Alipay is primarily used in China, while Alipay+ connects multiple payment systems across Southeast Asia. This discovery comes from the disassembly of the app's installation package, and features appearing in the disassembly may not necessarily make it to the public version; an official announcement for the release of Traveler QR has yet to be made.
