Houthi Claims Drone Attacks on Najran Airport and Aramco
The Yemeni Houthi rebels claimed to have attacked Saudi Arabia's Najran Airport and Aramco facilities with drones. A Houthi military spokesperson stated in a statement on the 20th that two military operations were carried out using two drones. The first operation targeted sensitive objectives at Najran Airport, while the second aimed at Aramco. The Saudi government and Aramco did not disclose any damage immediately following the claims of the attack. The Houthis asserted that this attack was a response to Saudi violations of their airspace in Saada. Recently, the Houthis have continued to exert pressure targeting Saudi vessels and energy facilities, claiming to have attacked Aramco facilities on the 14th as well. According to Kpler, the number of vessels transiting the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait has increased to 46 per day, which is higher than the usual figures prior to the situation. Amid disruptions in maritime operations in the Middle East, Aramco has proposed alternative shipping routes, and the Houthi claims of attacks are putting pressure on Saudi energy infrastructure and transportation routes at the southern end of the Red Sea. The actual impact on supply and oil prices will require further verification of damages and transit data.
