Mercedes-Benz Lowers Revenue Forecast Due to Declining Demand in China
Mercedes-Benz Group has updated its annual forecast, expecting a decrease in revenue. The reason is the slowdown in sales in the Chinese market. Revenue is expected to be "somewhat lower" than last year's €132.2 billion. The decline is attributed to high competition, cautious consumer sentiment, and changes in the model lineup. In the second quarter, sales in China fell by 30% compared to last year, offsetting growth in the U.S. and Europe. Operating profit in the second quarter rose from €1.3 billion to €1.5 billion, in line with analysts' expectations. Positive results were reported from the light commercial vehicle division and the financial sector. The situation is also challenging for other German automakers: Volkswagen expects a revenue drop of up to 3%, while BMW has lowered its profit expectations due to issues in China and the war in Iran, planning job cuts. Earlier reports indicated a decline in global sales for Mercedes-Benz due to reduced demand in China.
