New Service Zone for Transport Opened in Odesa Region
A new exemplary service zone for freight and passenger transport has been opened in the Odesa region near the "Reni -- Giurgiulești" border crossing point. The opening took place during a working visit by Minister Mykola Kalashnikov and the leadership of the Odesa region. The service zone aims to streamline transport flows, improve waiting conditions for drivers, and enhance the efficiency of border logistics. The construction was carried out with the support of the European Union's "Connecting Europe Facility" program. This is the first of five facilities planned for the development of Ukraine's border infrastructure. The modernized border crossing points "Starokozache" and "Dolynske" on the border with Moldova were also inspected. Kalashnikov noted that the development of transport infrastructure is critically important for the country's economic resilience. Currently, ten international border crossing points have been modernized on the border with Moldova, and large-scale projects are being implemented at the borders with the EU. The upgrade of border infrastructure is expected to increase capacity and reduce border crossing times.
