French Couple Buys Crypto Millionaire's Former Home, Faces Three Break-Ins
A young couple in the Somme department of France purchased a house that previously belonged to a retired couple who amassed a fortune of approximately €1 million through cryptocurrency investments. Due to the original owners' information being leaked on the dark web, the house experienced three break-ins between June and July of this year. In one incident, the intruders restrained and assaulted the occupants until they confirmed that the target's identity was incorrect before fleeing. Two suspects involved in the last failed invasion, aged 20 and 21 with no prior criminal records, were recently tried and pleaded guilty in the Amiens Criminal Court. One of them claimed to have received a payment of €15,000 to €30,000 for the "mission" via Telegram, and the two were sentenced to three years and 18 months in prison, respectively. The victimized couple stated that they no longer feel safe and plan to sell the property.
