Online Gold Sales Platform Licenses to Be Transferred to the Gold Union
The head of the Tehran Gold and Jewelry Union announced a change in the authority for issuing licenses for online gold platforms. According to a new resolution by the Supreme Supervisory Board of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, these businesses must obtain their licenses from the specialized Gold and Jewelry Union. This resolution was adopted in a meeting on October 19, 2026, and has not yet been officially communicated. The responsibility for issuing licenses for virtual businesses in each sector will be delegated to the specialized union of that field. Behdarafshan stated that the Gold and Jewelry Union will formulate specific guidelines and regulations for the operation of these platforms after the resolution is communicated. He also referred to the consequences of the expansion of online sales of melted gold, saying that this trend has disrupted the balance between various production and distribution sectors and has harmed traditional operators. According to him, production in this sector has decreased by 35 to 55 percent over the past two years. The head of the union predicted that the new resolution would be communicated within a month at most, after which the process of issuing licenses and supervising the platforms would begin.
