Securitize Partners with Socios to Launch Sports Equity Tokenization Program
Securitize has partnered with Socios to develop Socios Equity Tokens, aiming to issue compliant tokenization of minority stakes in professional sports clubs. The two parties will explore new models for equity financing and ownership in sports clubs, with Socios responsible for industry partnerships and fan engagement, while Securitize will handle securities issuance, investor onboarding, ownership registration, and transfer control. Securitize stated that the total market value of professional sports clubs worldwide is approximately $500 billion, and this collaboration aims to bring part of that value on-chain, potentially becoming one of the first projects launched under the EU DLT pilot mechanism for European trading and settlement systems.
