Stellar Launches Project Thruput for Fee-less Parallel Transactions

Project Thruput has increased payment execution speed from 1.18 million to 7.02 million per second when transitioning from one machine to eight. The technology allows for parallel processing of transactions, even if they alter the same state of the blockchain. The project is available on the FutureNet test network, and developers invite the community to test the technology. Project Thruput eliminates the performance limitations of blockchains when accessing the same data simultaneously. Transactions within a single block can be executed in parallel, even if they modify the same state. Compatible changes are merged during block finalization. During testing, performance increased with the number of cores and machines, reaching 7.02 million payments per second on eight machines. Project Thruput does not charge fees for individual transactions, which is expected to enable free micropayments. Gas measures and limits the execution volume of each transaction, and the share of an account in the scheduling queue depends on its unlocked balance of native tokens.
