The Week Ahead: 4 Key Moments for the Crypto Market
The U.S. and European central banks are set to make interest rate decisions, while new figures reveal the state of the U.S. economy. At the same time, four major tech companies will report their earnings. Together, these moments could quickly shift the sentiment in the crypto market.
In Brief
The U.S. central bank will announce its interest rate decision on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
U.S. inflation and growth figures will follow on Thursday at 1:30 PM, shortly before the European interest rate decision.
The figures from major tech companies may indicate how much risk investors are willing to take.
The U.S. Rate Takes the First Step
The U.S. central bank will announce its interest rate decision on Wednesday at 7:00 PM Dutch time. The press conference will begin half an hour later. At the previous meeting, the bank raised the rate by 0.25 percentage points to between 3.75 and 4 percent.
This is important for Bitcoin, as interest rates determine how attractive safe alternatives like savings and bonds are. If rates remain high for a long time, less money may flow into risky investments.
A milder tone could provide relief. Therefore, the reaction will depend not only on the decision but especially on what the central bank says about the coming months.
Inflation, Growth, and the ECB Follow Immediately
On Thursday at 1:30 PM, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis will publish two reports simultaneously: the first estimate of economic growth for the third quarter and new figures on income, spending, and inflation.
For crypto, what this combination means for interest rates is crucial. Strong growth and persistent price increases give the central bank more room to keep rates high. Weaker figures could reduce that pressure. Since the figures are released after the interest rate decision, they mainly influence expectations for the next meeting.
Fifteen minutes later, at 2:15 PM, the European Central Bank's decision will follow. This could affect the euro against the dollar. Since Bitcoin is usually priced in dollars worldwide, such a currency movement could also change what Dutch investors pay in euros for Bitcoin.

Tech Figures Show How Much Risk Investors Are Willing to Take
Microsoft and Alphabet will release quarterly figures on Wednesday evening. Amazon and Intel will follow on Thursday after Wall Street closes. These companies do not have a direct impact on Bitcoin, but their results can influence the sentiment around tech stocks. Analyst Nick Puckrin calls it a 'big week' ahead.
If investors are willing to take more risks after strong figures, that optimism may spill over into crypto. If the results disappoint and stocks are sold off, Bitcoin could also come under pressure. The figures from Microsoft and Alphabet will be available from around 9:00 PM on Wednesday; Amazon and Intel will follow on Thursday evening.
