Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, reacted to the $6.3 billion hack of the Binance exchange by once again criticizing the cryptocurrency market, describing it as "somewhat dangerous." This comment comes as Trump's financial documents reveal that he earned over $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency-related activities last year. In response to reporters' questions about the attack on Binance, he said, "I always felt this was somewhat dangerous." Previously, in 2019, he had stated that cryptocurrencies were not real money and in 2021 compared Bitcoin to a scam. However, the Trump family has entered the cryptocurrency business, and a significant portion of his income has come from these activities. According to Trump's financial disclosure for 2025, his largest source of cryptocurrency income was a licensing agreement for the meme coin TRUMP, which generated $636 million in revenue. Additionally, around $515 million was earned from the sale of tokens from World Liberty Financial. Polls indicate that 63% of Americans consider Trump's earnings from cryptocurrency activities to be inappropriate.
