Coinbase's XRP Balance Increases by 5.5 Billion Due to Address Reclassification

Coinbase's XRP balance has been reported to have increased by 4,870.7% to 5,569,165,957 XRP; however, this is not due to new XRP inflows but rather a result of the reclassification of existing wallets. According to the XRP Rich List Bot, the increase in Coinbase's balance is explained by the identification of 146 existing linked wallets. This case is closer to an 'identification event' where multiple addresses are grouped together as a single exchange holding. As of 8:15 AM on September 8, Coinbase is reported to hold approximately 5,683,720,000 XRP across 152 accounts. However, the number of existing linked wallets does not match the number of accounts on the public dashboard, so these two figures should be interpreted as reference values only. The large balances on the Rich List should not be interpreted as holdings of individuals or single investors, as exchange addresses may mix customer funds with institutional holdings. Therefore, the increase in Coinbase's balance should not be interpreted as new purchases or market inflows. This change must be considered alongside address labeling and aggregation methods.
