David Schwartz Predicts XRP Could Overtake Bitcoin by Market Cap
David Schwartz, former Chief Technology Officer of Ripple, stated that XRP could potentially surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization. During a recent discussion, Schwartz affirmed the possibility of a 'flippening,' emphasizing that it would not result from Bitcoin's decline but from XRP's faster growth. He suggested that as the digital asset market expands, leading cryptocurrencies could increase in value collectively rather than competing for a fixed capital share. Schwartz highlighted the technical advantages of the XRP Ledger, which was designed to be a faster and more scalable payment network than Bitcoin, capable of attracting users seeking more than just a store of value. Historically, XRP has previously closed significant gaps, briefly becoming the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap in late 2017 and early 2018. Currently, Bitcoin trades around 77165 dollars with a market cap of approximately 1.54 trillion dollars, while XRP is at 1.35 dollars with a market cap of about 85 billion dollars, making Bitcoin roughly 18 times larger. To match Bitcoin's valuation, XRP would need to reach around 24.50 dollars, assuming Bitcoin's market cap remains stable. Schwartz's comments reflect a conditional possibility based on technological strengths and market expansion, rather than an imminent collapse of Bitcoin.
