Kalshi Expands Event Contracts Based on Financial Indices with S&P Dow Jones
The U.S. prediction market platform Kalshi has partnered with S&P Dow Jones Indices to introduce event contracts linked to financial indices. S&P Dow Jones is considering the development of a new index that utilizes Kalshi's trading data to measure market expectations related to the economy, politics, and sports. According to Cointelegraph on the 26th, the two parties have signed an agreement to expand event contracts based on financial indices. Kalshi will be designated as the preferred platform for offering contracts linked to S&P Dow Jones indices, with the official index values from S&P Dow Jones being used for contract settlement. This collaboration focuses on utilizing existing financial indices for prediction market trading and processing prediction market data into new financial information. S&P Dow Jones is expected to review the development of indices that reflect market expectations regarding economic conditions, political outcomes, and sports events based on the prices of Kalshi's event contracts. However, the two parties did not disclose specific timelines for the launch of financial index-linked contracts and the development of new indices. The entry of traditional financial firms into prediction markets continues, with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, deciding to invest up to $2 billion in Polymarket last October.
