Ripple Highlights Institutional Credit Collateral for XRP
Ripple's product manager Jazzi Cooper stated that XRP's collateral structure based on institutional credit could be a strong use case. Despite the growing interest in on-chain finance, she emphasized that there is a significant gap on the institutional credit side. Cooper expressed that the lending infrastructure on the XRP Ledger serves as a foundation for this area, drawing attention to the XLS 65 and XLS 66 regulations. XLS 65 includes the Single Asset Vault regulation, allowing assets deposited by multiple participants to be aggregated within a common framework. XLS 66 encompasses the Lending Protocol that enables fixed-term and uncollateralized on-chain loans. Developers explained that these regulations are among the most important steps for institutional lending on the XRPL and are currently in the voting phase. Additionally, it was announced that the XRP Ledger Lending Protocol will receive a v1.1 update within the XRPL 3.4.0 release next week. The institutional credit initiative began to take shape on XRPL in August 2026 through a collaboration between Ripple, Cicada Partners, and ClearPool. ClearPool stands out as a financial protocol focused on a decentralized institutional credit market.
