Tim Draper Proposes Bitcoin Holdings for Households, Businesses, and Governments
Tim Draper has suggested that households hold Bitcoin (BTC) equivalent to six months of living expenses and businesses hold BTC equivalent to four weeks of payroll, in response to the weakening trust in the dollar. Draper, speaking to Bitcoin.com News, posited a scenario where BTC is used instead of dollars, stating that if some retailers start accepting BTC, people would flock to banks to exchange their dollars for BTC. He argued that the total supply of BTC is capped at 21 million, making it a potential alternative to inflation and currency devaluation. Draper personally forecasted that the price of Bitcoin will reach $250,000 by October 2027, a long-term outlook that has been suggested multiple times in the past. His argument focuses on viewing BTC not as a short-term trading tool but as an emergency asset. However, the notion that more retailers will stop accepting dollars and that people will rush to banks is merely Draper's assumption and not an official policy announcement from the U.S. government or financial authorities.
