Ukraine Establishes State Register of Animal Welfare Documents
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procedure for maintaining the State Register of documents in the field of animal welfare, which will allow inspectors to quickly verify the validity of certificates and permits for the keeping, transportation, or slaughter of livestock. The register will include state certificates and temporary permits confirming workers' knowledge of animal welfare requirements, certificates of suitability for vehicles transporting animals, permits for short- and long-distance transport, as well as trip logs. Employees of enterprises engaged in the keeping, slaughter, or transportation of animals must possess the necessary knowledge and skills, confirmed by a state certificate or an extract from the register. The register will centrally store information about issued documents and their status, enabling state control bodies to verify the existence and validity of documents. The resolution also defines those responsible for maintaining the register, the data for entry, the formation of register numbers, and the issuance of extracts, as well as the protection of information. Thus, a unified system for accounting documents confirming compliance with requirements in the field of keeping, slaughtering, and transporting animals is being created.
