Winter Holidays: 4.6 Million Tourists and Economic Impact of 2.12 Trillion
The winter holidays in Argentina concluded with 4.6 million tourists, a 5.9% increase compared to 2025, generating an economic impact of 2.12 trillion pesos, equivalent to 1.412 billion dollars. The activity grew by 2.5% in real terms compared to the previous year. The season was atypical, coinciding with the World Cup and unstable weather. Despite many Argentines traveling abroad, the arrival of 400,000 foreign tourists helped to offset the lower domestic demand. Tourists stayed an average of four days and spent 115,115 pesos daily, although this spending was 5.6% lower than in 2025. The number of travelers remains 16.9% below the record set in 2023. Snow and mountain cities, such as Bariloche, led hotel occupancy with 85%, while the Atlantic Coast faced one of its weakest seasons. In the first half of the year, 3.1 million foreign tourists entered, the highest record in years, and during the holidays, around 400,000 international visitors. Domestic tourism grew by 15% year-on-year, with Mendoza, Bariloche, and Buenos Aires as preferred destinations. Price factors influenced travel decisions, highlighting Córdoba as the most economical destination.
