Zand Expands Remittance Network with USDC Support
The digital bank Zand in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is expanding its corporate payment and cross-border remittance infrastructure through support for USD Coin (USDC). On August 25, Zand announced its plans to support USDC alongside its Zand Dirham stablecoin via its official LinkedIn account. This initiative aims to expedite cross-border payments. The areas of application include corporate payments, settlements, treasury management, trading, and cross-border remittances. However, the actual launch date for customers, the countries involved, and transaction volumes have not been disclosed. Zand is the UAE's first fully licensed digital bank, emphasizing a strategy that connects traditional finance with decentralized finance. On December 9, 2024, it received a license for virtual asset custody services. Zand's stablecoin strategy has been expanding since last year, and on November 17, 2025, it launched the Zand AED (AEDZ). This year, there has also been an increase in connections with external blockchain infrastructures, and collaboration with Ripple is underway. According to the World Bank, the average cost of global remittances is 6.36% of the remittance amount, which is why banks and payment companies are considering stablecoin-based settlements for speed and cost reduction. Circle reported that as of August 24, the circulating supply of USDC is $73.6 billion.
